| Home Fixtures Player StatsPlayer Profiles | SATURDAY 18th AUGUST 2007 KETTERING TOWN 6 v 0 VAUXHALL MOTORS BLUE SQUARE NORTH Vauxhalls can have few complaints, as the full-timers of Kettering exposed the shortcoming of Motors young side in the final forty minutes, to record their first victory over the Rivacre Park club in four meetings. After Sean Lake saved well at his near post to deny Poppies wide man Andy Hall early on, the visitors had two decent chances around the half hour mark, which were both headed wide by the alert Lee Furlong from good crosses from the right before Paul Taylor dropping deep, tested Lee Harper in the home goal with a smart shot. But three minutes before the break, the home side took the lead when John Dempster powerfully headed home from a corner, recklessly conceded by Motors captain Brian Moogan. On the resumption, Taylor was particularly unlucky when his excellent thrust into the box and subsequent shot, was palmed on to the bar by Harper and five minutes later they paid the full price when Jean-Paul Marna ran in a simple goal from a route one punt upfield with the Vauxhall defence caught flat-footed. Motors were undone at the back again on 59 minutes when an untidy passage of play ended with Griffiths putting through his own goal and five minutes later, it became 4-0 when a Marna finish off a move he began inside his own half with a well executed breakaway strike with the assistance of Hall. In the 70th minute, further confusion in the Motors rearguard allowed substitute Steve Burton in for a simple fifth and just before the end, more hesitancy in the visitors ranks gifted the home side a sixth through substitute Michael Malcolm. Vauxhall: Lake (Longrigg 71), Moogan, Dames, Griffiths, McMahon, Field, Garrity, Nesbitt, Furlong, Smith (Holmes 46), Taylor. Sub not used: Wright, Page, Johnston. |
