| Home Fixtures Player StatsPlayer Profiles | SATURDAY 11th AUGUST 2007 VAUXHALL MOTORS 2 v 0 REDDITCH UNITED BLUE SQUARE NORTH Two excellent strikes from Motors’ Mike Garrity and Paul Taylor, in the first quarter of each half, proved more than enough to see off a Redditch side that lacked a killer instinct, as Vauxhall opened the new Blue Square North campaign with a workmanlike victory. The visitors began the better with Exodus Geohagon heading wide from the first corner but after 13 minutes, midfielder Garrity danced across the edge of the area, before lifting a left-foot shot into the top corner and well beyond the reach of Danny Lewis in the Redditch goal to give the hosts the lead. Redditch almost responded immediately, but for Lake palming away a fierce close range header from Simon Rea and while United substitute James Johnson gave them a fresh assault, the visitors never seriously troubled the home keeper again, until the very last minute, when another substitute Chris Murphy cut in from the left bye-line and forced Lake into a decent stop. Vauxhall: Lake, Moogan, Dames, Griffiths, McMahon, Smith, Field, Nesbitt, Rooney (Johnston 70), Garrity, Taylor. Sub not used: Holmes, Page, Wright, Longrigg
