| Home Fixtures Player StatsPlayer Profiles | SATURDAY 17th NOVEMBER 2007 VAUXHALL MOTORS 3 v 2 SOLIHULL MOORS BLUE SQUARE NORTH Vauxhall produced a stunning second half comeback to clinch their second successive 3-2 victory and again striker Paul Taylor produced another eye-catching display, as Motors fought back from being 2-0 down at the interval. The Motormen flattered to deceive early on, as the visitors quickly gained the initiative, finding oceans of room to carve out two glorious chances, the only for Richard Follett and Pete Faulds to waste both without forcing Andrew Murphy in the home goal to make a save. Motors lively striker Paul Taylor then struck the crossbar at the other end after good work by co-striker Mark Reed, before Moors finally edged in front on 39 minutes, when Darren Middleton struck direct from a free kick just outside the area, following a foul by Joe McMahon. Murphy did manage to get a hand on the ball but could not keep it out. Ghent kept out a stinging shot from Peter Heler again after good work by Taylor, a Joe McMahon header was wrestled off the line following a corner and numerous other efforts from Heler, Rob Marsh-Evans and inevitably Taylor also rained in on the visitors goal. They finally gained their reward on 71 minutes, when Taylor outstripped his marker for pace in the inside left channel before firing home the equaliser, despite the efforts of Ghent. Eleven minutes later Taylor tied the Moors defence in absolute knots only for his shot to cannon off the far upright but not to be outdone, seconds later he was celebrating as his first time volley from a corner arrowed into the top corner for a superb winner to a thoroughly entertaining game for his 13th goal of the season in front of a number of watching Football League scouts. Vauxhall: Murphy, Holmes, Dames (Wright 81), Field, McMahon (Roberts 72), Hotte, Heler, Brannan, Reed (Clarke 85), Marsh-Evans, Taylor. Sub not used: Smith, Griffiths. |
