CARL MACAULEY RE-TAKES THE REINS AT RIVACRE PARK

Carl Macauley has reclaimed his position as manager of Vauxhall Motors, having stepped down to assistant in the autumn due to domestic reasons.

At that time, Carl was unable to devote the time necessary to manage the club and recommended that former Wolves striker Andy Mutch take over the reins on a temporary basis.  Now that his personal situation has improved, he felt the time was right to once again take charge of the Motormen.

Macaulay first became manager at Rivacre Park, when Owen Brown resigned in late 2005 and he subsequently guided Motors away from a precarious position in the then Conference North.  Now he faces another huge challenge, as Vauxhall are currently next to bottom of the Blue Square North and have just ten matches remaining in which to climb out of the bottom three.
It is, however, a challenge that Carl is still looking forward to, with his usual enthusiasm.

Meanwhile, Chairman Alan Bartlam commented “many people may draw the wrong conclusion considering the timing of this announcement, but it has nothing to do with recent results.  Andy only took over on a temporary basis and now Carl is ready to resume, which was always his intention if matters at home improved.  In the meantime, I would like to place on record our grateful thanks to Andy for looking after matters for the last few difficult months.”

“No manager at this club, competing at our level on such a small budget is ever doing to find things easy, but we had a couple of really good cup results whilst Andy was in charge towards the end of last year and our league form was improving alongside that at that time.”

“Now Carl has decided he is ready to resume and full credit to him, for coming to that decision, when we face such a battle to retain our present status.  Everyone at the club will be one-hundred per cent behind him.”
